The 66th Pelikan to enter my collection gets its first time in rotation. This pen, the Pelikan M805 Royal Platinum Raden Limited Edition only came into my collection because of the generosity of my lovely wife who forgave my spare of the moment ordering of this pen. This pen together with its Royal Gold Raden brother are two pens in my collection that I consider investment pieces as well as items to be used.
The Royal Platinum Raden being silver in colour is slightly less blingy than the gold version but if anything shows much more the rainbow effect of the mother of pearl when rotated under lights. It is a stunning pen and is my new favourite!
This pen came with a pretty standard full rhodium plated 18K gold medium nib. It was a bit dry out of the box but a couple tugs on the tines to widen them allowed it to become a more wetter nib.
Like all of my expensive Pelikans the Royal Platinum Raden has a rating of 1 so only the safest inks will be used with it. My database selected Montblanc Meisterstück 90 years Permanent Grey to be used. It is a very dark grey verging on black in most of samples below. It is waterproof and quite a nice formal ink.
