Pelikan M205 Toledo Red
While enduring the wait for the M605 Transparent White to be released I added a M205 pen from the new-old stock specialist eBay vendor missing-pen to my collection, bringing the total to 57.
Yes, I am breaking my rule1 to only buy Souverän model Pelikans but I couldn’t resist picking up the M205 Toledo Red. This model was discontinued in 2013 and had been on my “someday/maybe” list since I started collecting Pelikans in 2010.
It came with a steel BB nib which I shall not be keeping. I have four two-tone and one rhodium plated 14K M400 nibs that I intend to use with this pen. I will sell on the steel nib in the near future - it looks to have a good stubby grind that someone will appreciation either as is or by modifying to make it even more stubby.
The pen is M400 sized but differs from a M405 in having chrome plated trim rather than rhodium plating and a single ring on the cap and blind cap rather than two in the Souverän models. The body material feels a more economical plastic than the type used on the M400 pens.
None of this really matters as it is a lovely little pocketable pen in a great shade of red.
1 I already make an exception to this rule as I collect the M101N model of pen.
