Pelikan M101N Tortoiseshell Red Special Edition, M101N 14K Broad, inked with Montblanc Leo Tolstoy Sky Blue

My latest addition enters the pen rotation. The M101N Red Tortie was a long time coming as I was originally not that fussed on it when it was released in 2014. I eventually warmed to its look and when this one came up for a good price I bought it. This is my 95th pen and 43rd Pelikan.

I selected a Broad nib for this pen as I have a Fine and Medium in my other two M101N pens. I love the simplicity of the old style markings. The nib wrote well straight out of the box which was heartening as my previous two M101N nibs had misaligned tines on purchase.

The Montblanc Leo Tolstoy Sky Blue also makes it first appearance in rotation. The bottle is the now familiar round squat 35ml version used for the last several  Writers Series inks.

A good blue - not sure if I would call it exactly sky but it shades very well and does produce a red outline to the lines if the ink is wet. It flows very well from this nib and is a joy to use. I might have to get third bottle of this ink.

I say NO to Shimmertastic Inks
